WASTA's Role: Connecting You to Events
It's important to understand that WASTA acts as a platform to connect ticket buyers with event organizers. Think of us as the digital marketplace where event organizers can list their events and sell tickets, and where you, as an attendee, can easily discover and purchase tickets.
We are not the event organizer ourselves.
Here’s what that distinction means for you:
WASTA's Responsibility:
Platform Functionality: We are responsible for the smooth and secure operation of our ticketing platform. This includes ensuring a reliable website, secure payment processing (via Stripe), and efficient digital ticket delivery.
Customer Support (Ticket Purchases): Our team provides support related to your ticket purchase experience on WASTA, such as helping with payment issues, accessing your digital tickets, or understanding our general refund policy.
Event Organizer's Responsibility:
Event Content & Quality: The event organizer (the individual or entity hosting the event) is solely responsible for all aspects of the event itself. This includes the quality of the performances, the content of the workshops, or the overall experience at the venue.
Event Safety & Security: The organizer is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of attendees at the event location.
Venue Rules & Regulations: Any specific rules or restrictions at the event venue (e.g., dress codes, age restrictions, permitted items) are set and enforced by the event organizer and/or venue.
Event Changes: Any changes, postponements, or cancellations of the event are the responsibility of the event organizer. While WASTA will notify you of such changes, the decision and specific options (like refunds for rescheduled events) rest with the organizer as per our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
How WASTA's Fees Work: Transparency for Everyone
At WASTA, we believe in being upfront about our fees. Our goal is to provide a powerful platform at a competitive rate, ensuring organizers can reach their audience and attendees can easily secure tickets.
Here’s a breakdown of the fees you may encounter:
For Event Organizers: Your Revenue Share
As an event organizer using WASTA, you retain the vast majority of your ticket sales:
You receive 92% of the ticket's face value. This means for every ticket sold, 92% of the price you set for the ticket (excluding any additional fees passed to the buyer) goes directly to you.
8% Platform Fee: WASTA charges an 8% platform fee on all ticket transactions. This fee helps us:
Maintain and continuously improve the WASTA platform.
Provide secure payment processing infrastructure through Stripe.
Offer dedicated customer support for both buyers and organizers.
Develop new features to enhance your event management experience.
Flexibility for Organizers: Passing Fees to the Buyer
We offer organizers flexibility in how these fees are handled:
You can choose to pass the 8% platform fee onto the user (ticket buyer). If you select this option, the 8% platform fee will be added to the ticket's base price and displayed as a separate itemized charge to the buyer at checkout. This allows you to receive 100% of the ticket's base price.
Alternatively, you can choose to absorb the 8% platform fee. In this case, the fee is deducted from your 92% share of the ticket's face value, and the buyer only sees the base ticket price (plus any payment processing fees, as explained below).
For Ticket Buyers: Understanding Your Total Cost
When you purchase tickets on WASTA, you will always see a clear breakdown of all charges before you complete your purchase.
Ticket Price: This is the base price set by the event organizer.
WASTA Platform Fee (if applicable): If the event organizer has chosen to pass this fee on, it will be clearly itemized here (8% of the ticket price). This fee helps us operate and improve the platform.
Payment Processing Fee: This fee covers the costs charged by our third-party payment processor (Stripe, which securely handles credit card and digital wallet transactions). This fee is applied to the entire transaction total (ticket price + WASTA platform fee, if applicable).
The current rate for this processing fee is up to 3% of the transaction total.
Shipping Fee (if applicable): This fee only applies if you choose to have physical tickets mailed to you. The cost covers postage and handling.
Clear Display at Checkout:
All applicable fees are clearly itemized and displayed on the checkout page before you confirm your payment. The price you see at the final step is the total price you will pay.
